TWO talented musicians will be going through to the next round of the Rotary Club’s annual music competition after the local area event was held at Crickhowell High School.

Pianist Gabriel Kennedy and singer Kirsty Thomas most impressed the panel of judges out of the 13 pupils who entered the instrumental competition and the eight pupils who entered the vocal competition.

The Young Musician competition was staged by Crickhowell Rotary Club.

Crickhowell High School’s head of music Vicky Callow said she was delighted with all the students’ performances and the judges agreed the standards had been very high.

A good-sized audience attended the event. Crickhowell Rotary Club youth chair Stephen Parry thanked all the pupils who took part, the music teachers, the school and the audience for helping to create an atmosphere in which the students were able to perform to the best of their abilities.
