RADNOR YFC held its first weekend of the autumn public speaking competitions with the annual Junior Reading Competition.
The competition was held at the FUW Building who once again supported the event. Members were asked to read extracts from the book Wonder written by RJ Palacio.
Joanna Thomas, Will Lewis and Lowri Davies from Cantal YFC were crowned overall winners with Edw Valley coming a close second.
The same day members competed in the Situations Vacant competition giving members vital experience in applying for their dream job, this was won by Mollie Hooper, Presteigne YFC.
The Venables Llewellyn Bursary was won by Knighton YFC who will use the money towards buying a laptop and music mixing kit for their Club and the On the News competition was won by James Poulton, Richard Meredith and Rebecca Lloyd, Rhosgoch YFC.
The highlight of the day was the announcement of Radnor’s Junior and Senior members of the year and the titles this year went to Gemma Price, Llanbadarn Fynydd YFC, Junior Member of the Year and James Poulton, Rhosgoch YFC, Senior Member of the Year. Members look forward to the next weekend of public speaking competitions which will be held on the November 17 and 18 at the FUW Building, Llanelwedd.
