This weekend Rhian Lewis heads to the National final of the Stockman of the Year, in Stafford after gaining top Stockman at the Wales YFC Field Day.

Rhian is a member of Pontfaen YFC, in Brecknock, she will be placing and giving reasons on four rings of six animals in Beef, Breeding Ewes, Butchers Pigs and Dairy.

Rhian has completed a written management project which will also form part of the competition. It included been given full responsibility for the day-to-day operations of a livestock enterprise on a large farm. The farm forms part of a large farming company and you report directly to the farm’s director.

Part of thre role is to ensure the health of your enterprise, which is a key part of animal welfare and a financially viable management plan.

Rhian will also complete an animal health and husbandry Questionnaire and a task followed by an interview from the judges. Good luck Rhian!
