A TOTAL of 80 riders came together last weekend for Rhayader Motor Club's ninth annual Simon Rees Memorial Hare 'n' Hounds event.

The event has been running since 2003 following Simon's death the previous year, aged just 18 from meningitis.

The club set out a three mile circuit at Cwmythig Hill last Sunday, August 14, which resulted in some excellent racing in all classes.

Llanbister's Shaun Buchan pushed Kerry's Simon Williams all the way in the Expert class but by the end of the gruelling three hour non-stop race it was Williams who took the honours with 19 laps completed, while Buchan in second one minute behind.

Ash Newton was third.
