ARTISTIC Mount Street Junior School pupil Sagun Gaha has been presented with her prize after winning the Brecon & Radnor Express Christmas Card competition.

More than 100 entries from schoolchildren across Brecon and Radnorshire flooded into the Brecon & Radnor Express offices in Brecon after we set them the task of designing a Christmas Card for the festive season.

The winning design will appear on Christmas cards sent out by the Brecon & Radnor Express to its advertisers.

Year 5 pupil Sagun also won a box of Christmas cards with her design and name on them and a gift voucher to spend at The Old Railway Line Nursery in Three Cocks.

Sagun received her prize from the B&R’s reception and admin assistant Joan Manley in front of the school’s staff and pupils at a special Friday morning assembly.

Joan said: “The staff at the B&R were overwhelmed with the response from Powys children. We argued long and hard over who would win and who would be runners-up. I can honestly say, Sagun’s design was voted for by everyone as the best – although the overall standard was very high.”

All of the card designs for the competition are currently on display in the reception office on the ground floor of the Brecon & Radnor Express building in The Bulwark, Brecon LD3 7AE.

Family, friends and the artists themselves, as well as members of the public, are invited to browse the temporary gallery from 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday (apart from Christmas Day and Boxing) until January 3 2018.

Alternatively, you can view a video of the gallery here.
