SANTA switched on the Christmas lights on the north side of Newbridge on Wye last week thanks to the efforts of the town’s Friday Night Club.
The north side has always felt a little left in the dark compared to the excellent festive lighting in the south side. So the Friday Night Club organised a quiz and a number of social events to raise funds to light up the north side of the village.
As a result of their efforts the Friday Night Clubbers raised £700 to cover the cost of the new festive decorations.
After switching on the lights, Santa distributed sweets to the children and the evening was rounded off with refreshments in the Golden Lion Hotel where pupils from Newbridge on Wye Primary School sang carols.
The Friday Night Club is led by Pip Samuel who oversaw the project.
