Successful sculptor and artist Paul Kincaid is preparing for his major exhibition where he will be showcasing his work, both new and old.
The exhibition of sculpture will take place at The Courtyard in Hereford and will be available to visit from Friday, 7 November to Saturday, 10 January 2026.
The opening night will feature special guests attending, and music from Brecon Jazz Club, along with food and drink.
Paul Kincaid, now living in Llandeilo, is part of the mainstream of art. Kincaid is a Celt and a Catholic; his work takes inspiration from religion.
Speaking about his upcoming exhibition, Kincaid told The Brecon & Radnor Express: “I’m very stressed. It’s a very big, heavyweight exhibition and I’m in my seventies so it’s not something I expected to do but one of the directors, David Durant offered me the slot because he rated my work and could see where I was coming from so I was blown away and very thankful.
“He’s an extremely nice man and very helpful when I can get hold of him, because he’s very busy. He’s providing me with some lifting help too, which I am very thankful for!
“It’s exciting and it’s stressful. I didn’t expect to be doing a big one like this again at my time in life.”
On his career and the upcoming display, Paul said: “I carve stone, wood and other things as well, such as graphic work and the whole thing is ready to go now. I’m looking forward to seeing it all up and on display, but not so keen on the lifting and transporting of it all.
“I started out my career by drawing, painting and engraving and that’s what I made a living out of really
“In 2019 I was commissioned to do a two and a half metre granite sculpture of St David, to go to Brittany and that was quite the task. I fractured my wrist along the way but I didn’t want to breach the contract and be hit with financial penalties if I didn’t meet the deadline, so I thought well it’s got to be done! There’s going to be an eight-foot banner of that in the exhibition to represent that.
“The work will range from quite early stuff, from 1969 to right up to the present day, so will be a little bit of a retrospective as well. Most things will be for sale, and I will give a price list to the box office.
“There’s graphic work, printed sketchbook pages that can be obtained for a reasonable sum. It’s an exhibition of exposure for me really, and it’s been a long time since I have done one.
“It’s Christian, but not really Christian, I’m interested in religion, but I don’t believe in Adam and Eve but there’s people that do and I wouldn’t burst their bubble.
“On the opening night, I’m looking forward to people coming along, including some special guests and music by Brecon Jazz.”
