A SOLDIER has died while training in the Brecon area, the Ministry of Defence has said.

Josh Hoole, from ITC Catterick, died yesterday on a pre-course training exercise for the Platoon Sergeants' Battle Course.A spokesman for the Army said: "We can confirm that a soldier from ITC Catterick died on July 19 while conducting pre-course training for the Platoon Sergeants’ Battle Course in Brecon."The Welsh Ambulance Service said it and the air ambulance attended at the Dering Lines camp, on the edge of Brecon, just before 9am on Tuesday.A spokesman said: "We were called shortly before 9am on Tuesday, July 19 to reports of a medical emergency at the infantry training centre at Dering Lines in Brecon.“The Wales Air Ambulance and two emergency ambulances attended the scene."Dyfed-Powys Police said it it is investigating the circumstances of the sudden death and the soldier's next of kin and the coroner have been informed.Brecon and Radnorshire Conservative MP Chris Davies said his thoughts are with the soldier's family.Mr Davies said: "I am incredibly saddened to hear of the death of a serving member of our armed forces in Brecon on Tuesday. Any military death is tragic, but to have died on a training exercise is particularly distressing. Our armed forces are the best of the best and I am very sorry to hear of this incident."I am in regular contact with the barracks and am being kept up to date with events. I feel sure that the military will do everything in its power to ensure this does not happen again, and my thoughts are with the soldier's family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time."
