FISHERMEN in a South Powys town say they are being given the slip by water authorities over the issue of fish access under an historic bridge.

Crickhowell residents and anglers say plans to engineer a fish pass at the iconic 17th century Crickhowell Bridge in order to allow the aquatic-dwelling animals to pass through are 'totally unnecessary' and will cause outrage.

It is the second time this year that the Grade I-listed building has caused a splash after restoration work on the bridge in March was deemed to have turned it into 'an eyesore'.
