THIS Sunday, October 8, Knighton Community Centre welcomes five highly regarded Scottish musicians collectively known as Moishe’s Bagel.
Performing an infectious and highly danceable blend of klezmer and gypsy jazz with hints of Middle Eastern and Balkan rhythms to spice the mix, the band has played sell-out gigs at major venues like London’s Jazz Cafe, The Sage Gateshead, St George’s Bristol and Edinburgh Queens Hall.
Their past CD releases have earned major accolades like world music magazine Songlines’ Top of the World selection and a place in the Sunday Telegraph’s top 10 world albums.
To further enhance the breadth of experience on the band’s CV, their latest album features the band’s original score for Soviet silent film classic ‘Salt for Svanetia’.
Tickets for the band’s Knighton Community Centre gig are £10, which includes dips and nibbles etc, and are on sale now from the Tower House Gallery, Knighton, or from The Workhouse or Courtyard Antiques, Presteigne.
Online tickets are also available via links to Wegottickets at www.knightoncommunitycentre.com and the community centre’s Facebook page.
There will be a bar on the night and doors open at 7.30pm. Having garnered rave reviews like The Scotsman newspaper’s “This fearless 5-piece emphatically puts the ‘class’ into ‘unclassifiable”, Moishe’s Bagel really should not be missed!
