This month brings Crickhowell’s highly anticipated Walking Festival. Various events, such as film nights, talks and live music, will be held in venues dotted around the picturesque walking town, like The Bear Hotel and the Clarence Hall. And don’t forget the actual walking! With expert guides taking you through some of the breathtaking scenery around Crickhowell, with walks tailored to most age groups and levels. More info.
Brecon’s Women’s Festival begins tomorrow, March 4, officially launching at the Andrew Lamont Gallery in Theatr Brycheiniog, being opened by bestselling author and forager Adele Nozedar, featuring over 30 female Brecon artists. This art show will then run until March 26, so make sure you pay a visit.
Other events during the Women’s Festival include Brecon Women’s Festival Fayre on March 5 in St Mary’s Church and an event to raise funds for the Nepal Earthquake Reconstruction in the Muse in Brecon on March 19. Visit www.breconwomensfestival.co.uk for more info.
The National Botanic Garden of Wales have a number of ’Doggy Days’ planned for the upcoming months, with the next on Friday, March 4, where you can bring your dog along for a visit to the Gardens. The Garden has also teamed up with the Royal Horticultural Society to offer training for anyone involved in teaching children and young people to garden.
Brecon Beacons National Park Astronomy Evening - March 18- A series of interactive lectures by former University and NASA astronomer Martin Griffiths. Talks will be held at the National Park Visitor Centre at 7.30pm and will be followed by stargazing sessions using the Brecon Beacons Observatory and additional telescopes.
Pay a visit to the Canal Basin and Theatr Brycheiniog
There are many events being held in the Theatre this March, with shows for a range of all ages. For children Arnold’s Big Adventure will be showing on March 30 and for adults multi-award-winning comedian Russell Kane will be unleashing his brand new show on March 31. Pop into Tipple and Tiffin the Theatre’ cafe for lunch and if you have a morning free before the show why not hire a day boat from the canal basin right outside the theatre.
