A CCTV camera keeping an eye on the highest point of the A470 between Brecon and Merthyr Tydfil proved to be of no use following over night snowfall.
The CCTV camera at Storey Arms was out of action during snowfall in January meaning drivers were unable to check the condition of the main north to south trunk road at one of its highest points.
After concerns about the camera being out of action when it was most needed were raised in January the Welsh Government said it has taken action to ensure the remote camera works during bad weather.
But following the snowfall overnight on April 3 and again this morning frustrated commuters, and those wanting to take to the snow capped Beacons in spring, were once again faced with a message on the dedicated Traffic Wales website that the camera was out of action.
Instead of seeing live pictures of the road at the foot of Pen y Fan the website simply displayed a bilingual message stating "Sorry, the camera you have selected is unavailable due to maintenance works".
The Welsh Government has said it is aware of the problem and an engineer will attend on Friday to try and fix the problem.
Elsewhere the snow has caused some disruption across the area with "hazardous driving conditions" reported on the A44 at New Radnor while people have reported various rural roads around Llandrindod Wells were blocked or in a poor condition.
The Met Office had issued a yellow weather warning for snow for much of Wales, which was lifted this morning.
