A SPIN-OFF from a Dolau WI demonstration by Jean Morris on sugar led to a sugar craft class being run by Iris Anderson and Jean Morris in the summer.
Subsequently 12 of the class entered the Sugar Craft section in the Royal Welsh Show Winter fair. Two of them Angela Powell and Janet Lumley came away with 2nd and 3rd places.
All monies made from running the class have been donated to charity.
Iris Anderson chose the Lullaby Trust Powys as she is a member of Dolau WI and this is their chosen charity for the 2018. The Lullaby Trust Powys helps to support families in Powys who have lost little ones to cot death. They are trying to raise enough funds to replace 10 of the cot sensors.
Heather Lewis a member of Dolau WI accepted £240 from Dolau WI president Janet Lumley on behalf of the Lullaby Trust. Heather will be climbing Snowdonia in June this year in the hope to raise more funds for a brilliant local charity.
Jean Morris chose The Bracken Trust. The Bracken Trust helps people and their families that have had cancer. Doreen Hughes one of the class is closely involved with the charity and was pleased to excepted the donation of £240 on behalf of the Bracken Trust.
The next class is starting in May 2018.
