A VERY successful Talybont Village Show and Sports in wonderful weather was held in the Henderson Hall and on the Playing Fields on Saturday, August 25.
The sun shone all day, encouraging large numbers to visit this traditional Talybont-on-Usk event held on the bank holiday weekend.
Activities on the field began with a fancy dress competition for the children followed by a full programme of various types of races for young people – and some older ones.
There were many attractions on the field to interest young people and adults alike.
These included our popular village events like pony rides and face-painting, as well as a bouncy castle, an owl display and a variety of stalls.
Sports included egg & spoon races, sack races, obstacle course races and finishing off with tug of war challenges.
Competitive classes for children and young adults were staged in two marquees. Adult competitive classes for flowers, fruit, vegetables, domestic, art, handicraft and photography were staged in the Henderson Hall.
Overall entries matched last year’s which itself was a very good year.
Domestic, art and photography were notably strong this year.
Altogether a hugely successful and enjoyable Show, appreciated by the visiting public, and a reflection of the hard work generated by the Show Committee and numerous volunteers.
