THE suspended headteacher of Brecon High School has left her post, it has been announced.

Powys County Council said Ingrid Gallagher had decided to 'retire' from her position at the helm of the 800 pupil comprehensive.

Mrs Gallagher, who took over at the school in April 2007, had been suspended from her post since April 15 - when the school was in the midst of industrial unrest with teachers having staged a series of strikes over compulsory redundancies.
