Co-op Talgarth has announced that they have raised over £40,000 for local charitable causes in just five years.
The store recently held their annual Local Community Fund celebration day, where they paid out £8892.36 to three local causes. Since 2016, the store has raised an incredible £43,866 for its community.
The three causes that have benefited from the generous donation are ‘On The Verge Talgarth’, ‘Grow for Talgarth’ and ‘Mid Wales Meteors Basketball Club’.
William Lloyd, store manager of Talgarth Co-op, said: “I’m so pleased to see the incredible amount that The Co-op members have raised since 2016, specifically in Talgarth totalling over £43,867.
“By working closely with local causes and providing them with long term investment, our members and customers have all helped make Talgarth a place where we can all be proud to live and work and I applaud the work of our three 2020/21 causes - who have not only bettered out surroundings but have also improved community wellbeing.
“I’m so pleased to give £8892.36 to these three local causes.”
The group’s membership programme has also supported national organisations across the country, including Co-ops partnership with Hubbub, which has funded 100 new community fridges across the UK, providing 6.8 million meals a year.
It has also created over 6,000 opportunities for young people to make their communities a safer place to live and enabled 7,000 Academy students to receive free Co-op food vouchers - the equivalent of 1.2 million meals.
