It was a record turnout for this year’s Remembrance commemorations in Talgarth, held at St Gwendoline’s Church and at the town’s war memorial.
A special service was held on Remembrance Sunday, with Year 6 pupils from Ysgol y Mynydd Du taking part and doing their school proud. It is a long-standing tradition for the school’s oldest pupils to represent Ysgol y Mynydd Du at the town’s service and lay a wreath on behalf of the school.
Headteacher at Ysgol y Mynydd Du, Mrs Tara Morgan, said: “On Sunday morning our Year 6 pupils took part in the Talgarth Remembrance Service, and they did Ysgol Y Mynydd Du incredibly proud.
“It is an annual tradition for our Year 6 learners to represent the school at the town service, laying our wreath and standing in remembrance on behalf of the younger children and our whole school community.
“Their behaviour was exemplary, respectful, reflective and mature. They listened beautifully throughout the church service and stood with pride at the War Memorial.
“Thank you to the families who supported this, and to everyone who helps us to keep this meaningful connection with our community and local history alive.”
