Radnor YFC recently held its Annual Public Speaking weekend, sponsored by NFU Cymru, with over 160 members taking part.

The weekend began with the Senior Debate competition and Knighton A winning the competition.

A team comprising Menna Breeze, Dan Price, Rhoda Hodnett, Edward Hamer and Robbie Savage will now go forward to represent Radnor YFC at the Wales finals.

Competitors returned early on Saturday morning for the Junior Public Speaking and this time Edw Valley YFC won the competition with a team of Ffion Price, Mark Nixon and Amy Hammonds.

Following on the Intermediates were up next with the Brainstrust competition with top honours going once again to Edw Valley YFC, with their team comprising of Ben James, Mark Nixon, Will Davies and Lucy Brown.

Competitors also competed in the Situations Vacant competition where members had to apply for a job of their choice with Sioned Davies of Edw Valley YFC winning. Members also competed in the Just a Minute competition which resulted in Howey YFC winning the event.

The overall trophy for the weekend was awarded to Edw Valley YFC for the second year in a row.

Public Speaking events were rounded off with the very popular Junior Reading, with 13 teams taking part and reading extracts from the book Carrie’s War and Presteigne B team triumphing with Alese Ray, Sally Griffith and Eleanor Ray winning the overall trophy

The winning teams look forward to representing Radnor at the All Wales Public Speaking events in March 2016.
