Powys businesses are being warned that time is running out if they want to take advantage of the Broadband Connection Scheme.
Funding for the scheme, which can provide up to £3,000 to cover installation costs, is nearing an end and applications need to be submitted quickly to have a chance of success.
Powys Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Councillor Avril York said; “The scheme is open to all Powys businesses, including home-based businesses, sole traders, registered charities and social enterprises, and more than 80 have already taken advantage of initiative.
“We were always been aware that the voucher scheme was limited and have now been informed of the start of the closedown so are advising business that are interested to act quickly and submit applications as soon as possible.
“High-speed, high-quality broadband will ensure that businesses increase efficiency and enhance revenues which will help them maintain a competitive edge in their market. Broadband is increasingly vital for business development and growth but installations can be costly.
“I would urge those businesses and third sector organisations who are based in qualifying towns to apply for the Broadband Connection Voucher Scheme.”
Earlier this summer the council’s regeneration services organised events to promote the importance of broadband and provide an opportunity for businesses to meet potential suppliers. More than 50 county businesses attended generating almost 80 successful applications.
