Saintswell Enduro Centre hosted their annual Chicken Run Sprint Enduro on Saturday, May 31, writes Malcolm Bates.

The event also incorporated the second round of the Welsh Enduro Sprint Championship, attracting top riders from across the region and beyond.

In the hotly contested Championship class, Triumph works rider Mikael Persson narrowly edged out Jack Edmondson (Gas Gas), with fellow Triumph works rider, Manxman Jamie McCanney, finishing third. Local riders also impressed, with Rhayader’s Alex Walton taking fourth and Llandrindod Wells’ Sam Davies placing sixth.

In the Expert class, Charlie Crossland came out on top ahead of Llanbrynmair’s Iwan Roberts, with Llanbister’s Shaun Buchan finishing third. Also making the top ranks was Crossgates’ Kris Price, who placed sixth.

World championship contender Neive Holmes took victory in the Ladies class, finishing ahead of Nantmel’s Rheanna Morgan-Rogers, with Irish rider Brooke Mudie in third.

In the Super Veterans class, Chris Millar edged out Forden’s Jamie Powell, with Buxton’s John Shirt finishing third and Caersws’ Tim Foreman in fourth.

Unique to the event were the sidecar classes. In the Championship Sidecar class, Caio’s Alun Davies and James Ferguson took the win ahead of Llandrindod’s Jonathan Williams and Neil James, with the Golding brothers from Bristol finishing third. The Expert Sidecar class was won by Llanddewi’s Martin Pesola-Jones and George Williams, and Newbridge-on-Wye’s Edgar Mason and Geth Lawrence.
