NO police investigation will take place into spending by the Conservative Party in Brecon and Radnorshire during last year’s general election.
Dyfed-Powys Police had said it received "concerns" over spending by the party during the campaign in which Tory Chris Davies captured the Liberal Democrat held seat from Roger Williams.
However in a statement Dyfed-Powys said following consultation with the Electoral Commission it had decided there is no need for it to launch a criminal investigation.
A spokeswoman said: "Dyfed-Powys Police received concerns in relation to the expenditure of the Conservative Party during the 2015 General election and we have consulted with the Electoral Commission about these matters, who have provided us with advice and guidance in considering the complaints.
"After careful consideration, and on the basis of this advice, we concluded that none of the issues highlighted specifically to Dyfed-Powys Police would constitute a criminal offence under the Representation of the People Act, and therefore did not warrant a criminal investigation.
"Clarification on expenses rules can be obtained from the Electoral Commission."
A spokesman for Mr Davies had previously said all local spending was properly declared.
Mr Davies became the first Conservative to win the seat since 1992 when he beat Lib-Dem Mr Williams with a majority of 5,102.
