TRIBUTES have been paid to a former councillor who was actively involved in the arts in Brecon.

Peter Norbury died following a short illness at his home in Camden Road in the town last, Thursday, October 27. He was aged 62.

He was the chairman of trustees of Brecon's Theatr Brycheiniog, having been instrumental in establishing the canal side venue while a town councillor.

He twice served as Mayor of Brecon and was elected to the council in the early 1970s as a 23-year-old.

In October 2007 he was made an honorary bailiff by the town council in recognition of his long service to Brecon.
