Two well-known Breconshire village residents with the same name planted a special tree to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
In one of the most unique celebrations over the Jubilee weekend, Mrs Marjorie Skinner, 94, and Mrs Marjorie Miles, 99, planted the tree in Llanspyidd last Saturday afternoon (June 4).
The tree, which has been named the Marjorie Tree, celebrates not only the Jubilee but also recognises two of the village’s most well-loved residents.
Mrs Skinner is one of the oldest residents in Llanspyidd and has lived in the village since 1952.
Mrs Miles, who turned 99 years old last Saturday, is the oldest resident in the village.
The tree planting ceremony was just one of the many Jubilee events in Llanspyidd and the surrounding villages which residents enjoyed over the weekend.
