POLICE have picked up two stray dogs that were found running loose on one of the area’s busiest main roads at rush hour this morning
The springer spaniel and St Bernard dogs had been spotted running loose and unattended on the A470, the main road connecting north and south Wales, between Llyswen and Llansteffan - around half way between Brecon and Builth Wells.
Worried motorists had contacted Dyfed-Powys Police who collected the animals at around 9am on Monday, September 3.
The force said it has contacted Powys council which has responsibility for collecting and keeping stray dogs until they are collected by their owners.
The council says it keeps stray dogs at kennels for seven days to allow them to be claimed and owners need to pay a fee for their dog to be returned. If a dog isn’t claimed after seven days, it will be re-homed.
Police say the reference number to contact it about the two dogs found today is 047 of 03/09/18 and the force can be contacted on 101.
