AN INNOVATIVE campaign promoting road safety ahead of the Brecon Jazz Festival was withdrawn following complaints by the town's residents.

Powys County Council sprayed slogans onto town centre pavements pushing its Mission: Fatal 4law website last week.

But the authority was forced to perform an embarrassing U-turn and wash off the non-permanent chalk spray paint, just hours after it had been applied, following complaints to police about the logos.

The Brecon & Radnor Express understands that a number of objectors had expressed concerns that the markings were 'networking' messages linked to the recent UK riots.
