PUPILS at Brecon’s Ysgol y Bannau got a lift from the world’s strongest disabled man Lee Small when he visited the school.
The 28-year-old dad, from North Wales, lost his leg in a work related accident when he was just 17 but has gone on to compete as a weightlifter in competitions for athletes with disabilities.
During his visit to the primary Lee, who has a prosthetic leg, helped the youngsters perform a range of exercises and demonstrated his strength by lifting various heavy objects, including a bench on which two pupils were perched,
Headteacher Emyr Jones said the visit was arranged by Sports for Champions which aims to inspire children. He said: "The children thoroughly enjoyed being guided by Lee to perform a dynamic set of exercises for which they had collected sponsorship money and helped us to raise the profile of disabled sports."
The money raised will be shared between Sports for Champions, Comic Relief and Ysgol Y Bannau outdoor education.
