An urgent appeal has gone out to reunite a piglet stolen from its litter.
Police are investigating the theft of the five-week-old piglet from a smallholding in Garth, near Builth Wells.
Pc Viv Ainsworth, of Dyfed-Powys Police, said the owners are concerned for the safety of the animal, which isn’t a pet.
She said: "The mother is pining for it and the owner is concerned for the welfare of the piglet due to its age. The pigs are well looked after and the owner has many years experience and in shows.
"The piglet is worth around £40 but its owner is concerned for its welfare rather than any monetary value and would like it returned to its litter."
Pc Ainsworth, of the Radnorshire Neighbourhood Policing Team, said the piglet will reach more than 400kgs when full grown.
"It is not a pet or a micro pig and it will grow to more than 400kgs.
"If anyone is offered a pig for sale or is aware of a pig for sale we would ask them contact us."
The pig was taken from the smallholding in the early hours of Monday, March 20 and Pc Ainsworth said a car has been reported in the area at the time.
The officer said it not known if the theft was opportunistic or a targeted theft.
Anyone with information, or aware of a piglet being offered for sale, can contact Dyfed-Powys Police on 101.
