A POTENTIAL new housing development in Brecon could be blocked if the site is given protected 'village green' status.

Residents in the Camden Crescent area have lodged an application with Powys County Council for two fields north of their homes, known as Cae Prior, to be officially included in the register of town and village greens.

That would give the fields a protected status as being in community use and would mean the 10 acres could not be built on.
