RESIDENTS of Cilmeri got to learn vital life-saving skills at the local pub.

The event was organised by Prince Llewelyn landlord Simon Mason who put into practice the heart-starting CPR skills he learned in the sea cadets as a teenager and used in April this year to save the life of his neighbour Richard Barrett.

The event was supported by the British Heart Foundation Cymru who ran the training.

Simon said: “It made me realise what a vital life skill being trained in CPR is and I think everyone should learn it, so I decided to organise this event. Living in a rural community means having the ability and confidence to know CPR is vital as it can take time for the emergency services to arrive. I’m really pleased so many people came out tonight to learn it.”

Richard said: “Hopefully everyone in the village now feels confident that they have the knowledge and skills to save a life, you never know when you’re going to need it.”
