OVER 70 members of the Brecon Beacons Park Society set off on walks from the National Park Visitor Centre on Saturday, September 23.
There were three walks: 25 kilometres (to mark the 25th anniversary of the Society), and two shorter walks of 13k and 6k.
All three walks were set on their way by Jim Wilson the chair.
The longest walk took in Fan Frynach, the slopes of Fan Dringarth and Fan Fawr before returning through Craig Cerrig Gleisiad and Twyn Dylluan-ddu.
The medium walk took in the first and last parts of that walk and the shorter walk encompassed the common of Mynydd Illtud.
The low cloud in the morning passed and the walkers on the longest route were treated to sunny views of Ystradffellte and Beacons Reservoirs and down over Storey’s Arms and the masses of the public climbing Pen y Fan.
