Gusts of up to 60 miles per hour could batter Brecon and Radnorshire this week forecasters have warned.

The Met Office has issued a yellow "be aware" weather warning for much of Wales including Powyswith storm Doris set to hit the UK.

Gusts of 50-60 miles per hour are expected on Thursday with heavy rain also predicted throughout the day as well as some snow over high ground.

The warning last from 6am to 6pm on Thursday and travel services could be disrupted and buildings damaged.

The warning said: "Some very strong winds are expected during Thursday.

"Gusts of 50-60mph are expected widely across the warning area but a small swathe of even stronger winds may develop – most likely across parts of northern England, northern Wales and the north Midlands."

Parts of norther Powys are covered by the more serious "be prepared" amber warning with guest of up to 80mph possible in parts of North Wales.

The Met Office began naming UK storms in 2015 and storm Angus, in November, and Barbara and Conor, in December, have already hit the UK.
