Cerys Matthews will be appearing a town bookshop and cafe this weekend to sign copies of her new book, Where the Wild Cooks Go.
The BBC DJ, festival organiser and writer will be appearing at The Hours Cafe, Bookshop and Deli in Brecon where she will complete a Q&A and sign copies of the new book which features recipes, music, poems and cocktails.
Cerys, who rose to fame in the 1990s with Welsh rock band Catatonia, will be at The Hours on Saturday morning – the day after she turns the Christmas lights on in Hay-on-Wye.
The book is her first cook book although she has previously published three books.
Co-owner of The Hours, Leigh Hendra said: “It’s her first cook book, and it’s more like a book for life than just a cook book because it includes recipes, food ideas, stories about her travels, philosophy, poetry – there’s even a play list of suggested songs with each recipe.”
Leigh, who owns The Hours with Nicky Bickerton, said they got to know the Welsh star through attending her gigs as well as at Good Life Festival, which is six-years-old, when the singer introduced a Welsh Culture tent two years ago.
The duo, who have run the cafe and bookshop for nine years and the deli for two years, run a pop-up book stall.
Leigh said: “The fact she’s switching on the lights in Hay on the Friday is brilliant, but the fact she’s then coming to a small bookshop in Brecon on Saturday morning is just amazing.
“It’s a free event, but you do a need a ticket to get in which you get when you buy a copy of the book from us.”
To get a ticket to meet Cerys and to join in with the Q&A, buy a copy of Where the Wild Cooks Go from The Hours where tickets are being given out with the purchase.
The event with Cerys, who is described as warm and passionate, will start at the cafe and bookshop on Ship Street at 10.30am.
