Here’s everything you need to know about the Brecon with Bells event which will see Absolutely Fabulous star Joanna Lumley turning on the town centre Christmas Lights.
When and where are the lights being switched on?
Brecon’s Christmas lights will be switched on this Saturday, November 18 in the Bulwark, right in the centre of town.
Are any other events planed for Saturday?
Yes. There will be market stalls outside The Guildhall and St Mary’s Church. There will be a main stage outside The Brecon & Radnor Express office. The cast from the Westenders pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Aladdin which is running at Theatr Brycheiniog over the festive season, will also be staging performances.
Local choirs and singers will be performing throughout the day from 12pm.
Are there any events specifically for children?
Yes. Bethel Square will become a kids’ zone with entertainment, games and activities for younger children. There will also be a Santa’s Grotto.
Will there be food available?
Yes there will be hot food, including a Gurkha curry served all day.
What time will the lights be switched on?
Joanna will switch the lights on 6pm. There will be Nepalese entertainment from 5.30pm and the event will close at 7pm with a performance from the Westenders cast.
Where can I park?
There will be free parking available at Powys council’s Neuadd Brycheiniog offices in Cambrian Way, a right turn at the Morrison’s garage if entering Brecon from the A40 roundabout, while there will be no charge at the Watton car park.
