A NIGHT time hot air ballon display is planned to close the first day of this year’s Royal Welsh Winter Fair.
The Nightglow display will see balloons rise from the Llanelwedd showground’s main ring at 6.30pm on Monday, November 30 and light up the the night sky in time to music for an hour long spectacle visible from across the showground.
The two day event, which closes on Tuesday, December 1, is a major attraction for both agricultural enthusiasts and Christmas shoppers.
Following the success of last year, the fair will again open its doors to the public for free after 4pm on the Monday evening for a late night Christmas shopping evening.
Visitors on Monday evening will also be able to tour the demonstrations and exhibitions, listen to choirs and bands performing throughout the showground and younger visitors could also meet Father Christmas at Ty Ynys Môn from 4.30pm – 6pm.
Showground chiefs have already held a preview evening of the Nightglow display for local children and families. The display is dependant on weather conditions.
The Winter Fair has a reputation as being the finest prime stock show in Europe and features competitions, classes, exhibitions and displays as well as Welsh food producers in the food hall and Christmas farmers’ market, and hundreds of trade stands.
