POLICE have named a woman whose body was found in the River Usk.Mother-of-two Anita Mary Parry was 50 and from the Brecon area, Dyfed Powys Police confirmed. A search for Ms Parry began on Monday night and continued throughout the day on Tuesday.
Brecon Mountain Rescue Team volunteers, who had been scouring the river in kayaks, had been due to suspend their search as darkness fell.
The alarm was raised at around 6.20pm on Monday when witnesses reported seeing a woman in the river. It is understood the woman entered the river just upstream from Llanfaes Bridge.
Earlier on Monday Dyfed-Powys Police, which co-ordinated the search, said the rescue team and the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service had deployed specialist officers to search the river banks downstream from Brecon.
