RADNORSHIRE remembers the 531 men who died as a result of World War One in an exhibition which opened in Llandrindod Wells before Remembrance Sunday.

The exhibition at the Radnorshire Museum focuses on the stories of the men who gave their lives for their country. Also featured are many aspects of the first World War from a Radnorshire point of view.

Together with an original uniform and equipment as well as medal groups belonging to some of the men.

There are also a vast number of photographs featured in the exhibition.

The museum which overlooks the Town Hall gardens and the war memorial in Llandrdind Wells was attended by about 180 people.

The museum’s curator, Will Adams, spoke warmly of his colleague Phillip Jones who has spent the last year and a half researching the project before handing over to the mayor of Llandrindod Cllr Jon Williams, who formally opened the exhibition.

The exhibition which will be well worth several visits has a vast amount of information as well as artefacts from the period. A focal point of the exhibition is the Roll of Honour which brings together the names of all the men of Radnorshire known to have died in WWI. There is also a superbly put together folder in the exhibition outlining the lives of some of these men and it is Phillip’s intention to continue with the project until all 531 men have their stories written up.

Mr Adams said the museum would like to thank all the family members who have been so generous in loaning information, photographs and artefacts for the exhibition.

The exhibition will run until January 31. The winter opening hours at the museum are 10am until 4pm Tuesday to Friday and 10am until 1pm Saturdays.
