HAY Hotfooters is a local running club and is also one of the smaller running clubs affiliated to the Herefordshire Cross County League.

This season’s cross-country competition comprised of five races, the final one being held on Sunday, February 24 at Presteigne over a hilly woodland course in Nash Wood.

The senior womens’ competition throughout the season had been very closely contested with new runner to Hay Hotfooters Bethan Logan winning one of the races and being well placed in others. There was only one point between the possible winners in the final race at Presteigne but with a tremendous performance Bethan won the race by only three seconds to became the Women’s Champion for 2018/9.

There was a double celebration for Bethan as her Hay Hotfooters club also sealed victory in the womens’ team competition for the first time in the club’s history.

Bethan’s victory was well supported by fellow team members Sarah Christensen, who was also second in her age category, and 17-year-old Aderyn Carter who was running this race for the first team as a senior and was also first in her age category.

Hay Hotfooters had further sucess with Sharon Lindsey who was first in her age category and Tina Lavelle who was third in hers.

Martin Carter kept up the side for the men and was third in his age category.

Altogether this was a huge achievement for such a small running club, which all the club’s members are justifiably well proud of.
