A FORMER Wales international rugby star is returning to South Powys to coach his home town club.

Ex-Wales and Scarlets forward Vernon Cooper will be looking to improve and develop rugby at grassroots level after agreeing to return to boyhood club Ystradgynlais.

He will coach both the first and youth teams, with pre-season training at the Blues having got underway this week.

While things are beginning to look brighter for the Blues on the pitch, matters off the field are far from blue too.

A month ago, the club received recognition for its vibrant Twitter account, while in a third bit of news coming out of the club, top comedian Greg Davies will appear at a charity event to be held at the club later this year.
