THE final Thursday afternoon Veterans Bowls League took place last week.
Club President Betty Morgan thanked everyone who had helped to make the League such a success, especially Dal James who had organised the afternoons. He in turn thanked various people who had helped him and made a special reference to Walter Rogers who he said he had lived opposite fifty years ago in Llandrindod Wells, he also thanked Walter’s daughter Annette and husband Clive Barrett for sponsoring the trophies this year.
The Councillor Walter Rogers Memorial Trophy, which was originally donated by Annette and her sister Dorothy six seasons ago, was then presented to the captain of the winning team Brian Jones of the Penybont team, by Clive Barrett, son in law of Walter.
He also presented inscribed appropriately shaped glass miniatures to members of the winning side namely Brian, Ray and Ken Price, Derek Boorman, Mavis Morton, Brian Torode, David Davies and David Williams.
He also presented miniatures to the runners up, The Plodders, Dal James, Gill James, Ken Howarth, Norma Williams, Bill Shorter, and Ian Kinsey.
