LAST Saturday Radnorshire Men’s Premier League side played their final club championship match of the 2015/16 Indoor season.
They played away at Blaenau Gwent and traveled with a weakened team being short of three players.
However they did manage to win two rinks and claim four points meaning they have avoided relegation, and will therefore play in the Premier Division next season.
From the autumn onwards with possible a strong squad of players they will have the opportunity to build on the performances of this season.
In the Ladies International Series which took place at Llanelli Indoor Bowls Club last weekend, Wales came third behind winners Scotland and runners up England and in the matches against these opponents a Welsh squad with Radnorshire’s Betty Morgan, Paula Summerfield and Wendy Price in their ranks only lost by nine shots to each country. Ireland picked up "the wooden spoon" by finishing in fourth place.
The previous Wednesday, Radnorshire’s Mixed Friendly squad played at home against a strong mixed Leominster team, and in the end they lost quite heavily by 153 shots to 106 after trailing by at least 10 shots all the way through the 21 plus two practice ends.
In fact Radnorshire only won on one rink 32—17 that of skip Pat Brooks, whilst Norma Williams four managed a 23 all draw, all the other four rinks being defeated.
This Sunday Radnorshire’s Team Championship side play Glynrhondda at home, whilst the final of the DJ Trophy also takes place. This weekend, the Rhayader Short mat triples takes place over two rinks between 9am and 12pm. From next Monday to Thursday the Radnorshire Indoor Stadium finals take place.
