RADNORSHIRE’S Men’s Premier League side played last season’s winners Cardiff in the Club Championships at home last Saturday.

Although they lost by 16 shots 121 to 105, Radnorshire had the consolation of collecting four points because the rinks of Robert Weale and Sam Roff were both successful, whilst in fairness skips Ken Price and captain Luke Harwood only lost by three and five shots respectively. Radnorshire Men now have 68 points and are sixth out of eight clubs in the Premier League. The teams below them are Merthyr and Port Talbot.

The Radnorshire Ladies played in the DJ Trophy at Llanelli, and had a very disappointing day losing on both rinks played. After a number of seasons as the best or one of the top teams in the D.J. Trophy, the Radnorshire Ladies have struggled somewhat in terms of players, but more so form wise.

On Sunday the Senior ladies played the Junior Ladies at Merthyr, the only local player involved was Ysie White. However Betty Morgan M.B.E.as Manager of the Welsh Under 25’s team was very proud of her players because they won three out of the four rinks played.

Ysie White who plays her indoor bowls for Radnorshire has been selected in the Welsh Under 25 Indoor Junior squad to play at Paisley, Scotland on February 13 and 14.

Whilst in the Senior squad Ysie joins her colleagues Betty Morgan M.B.E. Wendy Price and Paula Summerfield in the Internationals to be held in Llanelli between March 14 and 16.

This weekend, Radnorshire’s Club Championships team travel to Merthyr, who are just below them in the league table to play in an important Premier League match and will be looking to add to their league points.

On Sunday the Men continue their Team Championships campaign with a difficult looking visit to league leaders Rhydycar.

At present Radnorshire are fourth out of six clubs in the Team Championships. Also on Sunday Betty Morgan M.B.E takes her Junior Ladies to play against the Men of Earlswood in a practice match.
