BRECON Youth rounded off a fine season by winning the Breconshire Youth Cup Final in a close encounter against fierce local rivals Builth Wells at Gwernyfed on Saturday.
Even the poor weather conditions could not detract from an enthralling match, with Brecon gaining revenge for two previous league defeats to Builth earlier in the season.
Brecon got the crucial score as they trailed 11-7 with five minutes to go, Hugh Prothero's sniping run around the blind side of a scrum seeing him cross the line close to the posts.
Jake Crockett converted to make the score 14–11.
Brecon had to defend for their lives for the last five minutes of the game, coming under immense pressure from Builth after they had a man sent off, but they held on for a famous win.
