Brecon & District Swimming Club is celebrating a wave of success following a spectacular performance at the Amman Valley Open Meet in Carmarthen.

Competing against tough regional talent back in April, the club’s swimmers rose to the occasion, bringing home an impressive total of 29 medals.

The final tally included 5 gold, 10 silver, and 14 bronze medals, alongside a flurry of personal best times and standout performances across all age groups.

Beyond the podium finishes, the event marked an important milestone for the club's development, seeing a high number of debut competitors taking to the blocks for the very first time.

A spokesperson for the club said: "This was a phenomenal team effort. We are incredibly proud of all our swimmers, especially those stepping up to compete for the first time. Brilliant team spirit showcased by all, our thanks to the squad’s older, more experienced swimmers who were instrumental poolside, offering reassurance and cheers for their younger teammates. A huge thank you must also go to our dedicated coaching volunteers. Their hard work and guidance in the weeks leading up to the meet truly paid off, and it showed in the fantastic results we saw in the pool. Well done everyone!"

With confidence riding high and a collection of new personal bests in the bag, the club is looking ahead to their next competitive meets in the coming weeks and months.

The club would also like to thank the local community for their recent support; to Brecon Rotary Club for generously rewarding the club with a community chest grant to purchase new swimming and training kit.T

he swimming club is proudly run solely by volunteers and are always on the lookout for new volunteer support.

If you have time to volunteer either poolside or behind the scenes, the club would love to hear from you.
