Brecon 2nds v Rogerstone 2nds

Top of the table Brecon entertained bottom league Rogerstone and came away with a resounding victory by 190 runs.

Winning the toss and batting first Brecon got off to a steady start with John Kenchington and Mark Waldeck putting on 73 for the first wicket before the former was bowled by a ‘jaffa’ from Jasmine for 29. Waldeck departed soon after for 21 with the score on 103.

Sean Waldeck and Robin Thompson then took the score to 143 before Thompson fell for 19. Sean and Daf Edwards continued to up the scoring rate before both were dismissed for 47 and 48 respectively.

Enter Ben Kenchington to put the Rogerstone bowlers to the sword with a superb innings of 77 not out and aided by Ryan Morgan 18 not out and 63 extras, the innings closed on 323-6 in their allotted 45 overs.

In reply the Rogerstone openers started well putting on 67 for the first wicket in quick time.

However the introduction of Ryan Morgan halted their progress dismissing both batsmen in quick succession. From then on it was all about trying to get maximum bowling points.

This was achieved with two overs to spare with Rogerstone limping to a final total of 133.

Ben Kenchington picked up three wickets for an excellent all round personal performance. Dan Marshall returned to mop up the tail to also pick up three. Skipper John Cooke got the other wicket to fall. Brecon now boast a record of six wins from six and next week travel to Crumlin hoping to maintain their unbeaten record.
