BROTHERS from Builth Wells made the long journey to North Wales last month to compete at the Welsh Cyclo-Cross Championships.
Held in Colwyn Bay, brothers Alfie and Finn Davies competed against children from the whole of Wales. They were faced with wet, muddy and cold conditions: perfect Cyclo-Cross weather.
Seven year old Finn rode exceptionally well to take the win in the U8 Category whilst nine-year-old year old Alfie fought hard on a fantastic course to get first place in the U10s.
The season finale, held in Pembrey, saw the exciting culmination of the Welsh Cyclo-Cross League that started in September.
Over the 11 rounds, riders had battled through mud and tackled obstacles in venues across Wales, promoted by local clubs.
Finn won every round for the U8 boys making him a strong league winner while Alfie had an outstanding year and took the U10 boys league winner title.
Dad, Lee Davies, also had a good season and attained fourth in the V40 category. Finally, Andy Firman had a first class season taking the league winner title for the V60 category.
The boys mum Linsey Davies said: "Cycle-tec have provided constant, first class support, keeping the bikes in excellent condition throughout the season and after some pretty muddy courses so we would like to say thanks to them. The boys also attend weekly training sessions organised by the local club ’The Bulls’ to help with their Cyclo-Cross season."
Cycle-tec are hosting a round of the Welsh MTB XC Series at the Royal Welsh Showground on April 17, the week after the Scott MTB Marathon which will also be held in Builth Wells.
