MEMBERS of Wolfpack Freestyle Kickboxing, which was launched in May 2015, entered the Verve Welsh Kickboxing Championships recently.
Wolfpack Freestyle Kickboxing, which recently became affiliated to Verve Kickboxing, is run by Rich Wootten, Brown Belt Instructor and overseen by Mr Dominic Evans second Dan Verve Black Belt.
Of the four fighters, Dan Morgan was the only adult representing Brecon and he fought in two categories - points and continuous. Dan won Gold in Points and took Bronze in Continuous. His final continuous match was a close run match and at the end of the fight the judges scored it drawn, it then had extra time and was drawn again, finally it was awarded to his opponent by the referee based on ring craft.
Other fighters representing Brecon were Adam Credland who achieve Silver in points and Christopher Williams who was drawn against Adam for the final match, again this was a close match with Christopher pulling forward to win gold.
Christopher then went on to fight in the continuous category and had a very tough fight with an opponent much larger and more experienced than himself; he proudly achieved silver.
Finally Tom Williams, Christopher’s younger brother, fought in the points section, he beat a number of opponents including one in the elite verve Wales kickboxing squad. Tom took silver.
Rich Wootten Instructor for the Club said: "I am very proud of my team, they all did fantastic and it was the first time that Brecon has been represented in the Verve Welsh Championships, everyone of the team fought very well and to a very high standard. Everyone came away with a medal and some of the other instructors said that Brecon had to be watched in the coming months and years."
