RHAYADER Town ended a run of defeats with a 1-1 draw at Mid Wales rivals, Caersws on Bank Holiday Monday in the Huws Gray Alliance.

A glance at the Alliance table suggested it was a game both needed to win but the bottom two clubs had to settle for a point apiece. Rhydian Davies handed Town the lead from the penalty spot when Dafydd Carruthers was brought down five minutes into the second half but new striker, Daryl Rogers got off the substitutes bench to level for The Bluebirds.

Rhayader player-manager, Dylan McPhee, despite being down to the bare bones for the local derby said: "It was a good performance, we looked more organised and showed far more commitment than of late."

Llanfair United slipped into the bottom three after going down 2-1 at home against Guilsfield. Jake Cook put The Guils ahead, Jamie Davies equalised for Llanfair but Cook bagged the winner from the penalty spot.

Cefn Druids go into The New Year top of the table after a 2-1 home victory over title rivals, Prestatyn Town thanks to two goals from former Caersws striker, Steve Blenkinsop.
