BRECON FC were gutted as a late strike from Andy Evans earned Carno Reserves a 3-3 draw at Penlan in the Watson Financial Mid Wales League (South).
Brecon are now seven points behind leaders, Rhayader Town Reserves with a game in hand but the sides still have to meet. Jordan Jones gave Carno a half-time lead on Saturday but Brecon hit back through Luke Roughley and Kyle O’Shea.
Jones netted his second for the visitors but Brecon must have thought it when Roughley bagged his second only to see Evans net right at the death.
Corey Evans was a hat-trick hero as Brecon Northcote made it three wins in a row with a 4-2 home success over Hay St Marys Reserves.
Northcote, who completed the transfer of Dale Evans from Caersws last week, went into the game on the back of wins against Builth wells Reserves and Presteigne Reserves. Hay drew first blood when Darren Horrigan gave them the lead but two goals from Corey Evans and one from Joel Evans put Northcote in the driving seat.
Callum Maddy pulled one back for The Saints before half-time but Corey Evans completed his hat-trick in the second half to leave Northcote in good spirits going into this week’s local derby with Brecon FC.
Builth Wells Reserves were forced to defend for much of the afternoon in their 2-0 defeat at home against Newcastle. A string of good results has taken the Shropshire side fourth in the table and they secured the points with a goal in each half from Rhodri Jones and Scott Oxford.
Elsewhere, Jordan Harvey grabbed a second half equaliser to earn Talgarth Town a creditable 2-2 draw at Llanidloes Town Reserves. Ben Sharman had given Chris Voyle’s side the lead but Llanidloes led 2-1 at half-time through Adrioan Foulkes and Liam Fletcher before Harvey netted Talgarth’s second.
Llandrindod Wells Reserves had picked up the spoils last Wednesday night with a 4-2 home success over Hay St Marys Reserves.
Dan Jones had put The Saints in front in the first half but Llandrindod hit back with three goals in 20 minutes at the start of the second period through George McCarthy-Allen, Stuart Williams and Kieran Davies. Jason Coles extended the lead from the penalty spot before Daniel Elvestad got a second for Hay.
