IN only their second season running a youth team, Brecon Northcote recently reached the final of the Mid Wales Youth League play offs.
After finishing runners up in the South Region they played Welshpool, the winners of the North region, in the play off semi final.
After a tense and enthralling 90 minutes, played at Llandrindod, the score was tied at 4-4.
The match went into extra time and, although the underdogs, the Brecon side came out guns blazing and scored 3 goals in the first half without reply. They held on to this lead to win 7 -4 in a superb team performance.
Scorers were Craig Evans (3), Glyn Hobbs (2), Kian Davies and Liam McAnally.
In the final Brecon Northcote were up against a strong Rhayader side, this time played at Penybont.
There was nothing much between the sides in the first half, but going into the final minute of the half, with the score at 2-1 to Rhayader, they scored again to extend their lead. In the second half the Brecon team kept battling away but eventually lost 7 -2. Scorers on the night were Craig Evans and Matty Roderick.
