Brecon Corries 1 Cornelly Utd 1
AFTER last weeks Welsh Cup exit it was back to league duty as the Corries welcomed league leaders, Cornelly Utd, to the Rich Field.
The inclement weather over the past week resulted in a very soft and heavy playing surface but following numerous pitch inspections it was game on.
The Corries started the game the brighter of the two teams and were eager to play as much football as the pitch would allow.
The adoption of a different formation than usual was allowing the Corries to dominate the midfield area which created the chance for Paul Keddle to open the scoring, of which he duly obliged.
With Cornelly offering very little to trouble the impressive defensive line of Austin Mellor, Joe Sissons, Adam Tebbitt and Oli James, it looked like the Corries would play out a comfortable win. But with the strong wind and rain in their faces the Corries were unable to build on their one goal lead going into halftime.
The second half proved to be rather frustrating for the Corries in more ways than one. The visitors were awarded an early penalty after Joe Sissons was judged to have ’leant excessively’ on the Cornelly striker, which they converted to level the game.
Despite getting into some excellent attacking positions the Corries were unable to grab the winner and the game inevitably finished one goal apiece.
A fair result in the end and considering that Cornelly Utd are top of the league this was a valuable point. The Corries are in action once more before a three week break over Christmas when they host Pontlottyn to the Rich Field on Saturday December 19 kick off at 2pm.
Adam Jones, Brecon Corries Vice-Chairman and Secretary said: "A big thank you to The Bank Bar, Brecon for sponsoring the match."
